Purposes

Presently the most important studies being carried out in Brazil are concerned to the integration of Hydroelectric Power Plants located in the Amazon Region. Very long transmission lines are necessary to connect these plants to the main center loads in Southeastern region.

CIGRÉ-Brasil in order to make a contribution to the benefit of those studies decided to schedule a workshop to discuss the main aspects regarding HVDC state-of-the-art, planning and engineering issues.

The Brazil-China-India Summit Meeting on HVDC& Hybrid Systems: Planning and Engineering Issues will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 16th to 18th, 2006.

The conference will join together the three main developing countries, Brazil, China and India that are presently facing similar challenges concerning long transmission systems.  Besides the main utilities and research centers related to the HVDC technology the most important manufacturers as ABB, SIEMENS, AREVA and others have already confirmed their participation which makes an outstanding opportunity to share experiences, to know about the novelties in progress and provide direction to the decision-makers.
